We are delighted that the documentary film that Finnish filmmaker Mika Kaurismäki made last year from the workshop edition of the Monheim Triennale, The Prequel is celebrating its premiere! The Cologne-based production company 2Pilots and the distributor Cologne Cine Collective are planning special public previews in Hamburg (June 2), Berlin (June 3), Cologne (June 4) and Monheim am Rhein (June 5) for the beginning of June. Finnish filmmaker Mika Kaurismäki is known for his great personal storytelling skills, which are particularly evident in his music documentaries. He has developed a remarkable sensitivity for capturing the process of musical communication in images. With this particular interest, he came to Monheim am Rhein in the summer of 2024 and accompanied the workshop edition of the Monheim Triennale “The Prequel” on film for three days.
The film, which will be shown in selected cinemas and film festivals at the end of June and on Arte in late summer, was produced by the Cologne-based film production company 2Pilots. The Cologne Cine Collective has taken over national and international distribution with the support of the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW.
