The Prequel

A prequel, in literary, gaming, and especially cinematic contexts, refers to a narrative that serves as a sequel to a prior work, yet its events occur chronologically before it.

In Monheim, this narrative format is employed to shape the Triennale cycle. At The Prequel, the Monheim Triennale’s Signature Artists meet each other for the first time. Here they acquaint themselves with one another, as well as with the city of Monheim am Rhein and its residents. They absorb impressions and seek inspiration for their individual projects, which they present through collaborative performances.

These interactions serve as the genesis of the exclusive projects that the Signature Artists will unveil at The Festival 2025, the following year.
