Zum goldenen Hans

Café Zum goldenen Hans is part of the volunteer-run socio-cultural centre Sojus 7, a partner of the Monheim Triennale. The café is a cultural venue for meetings and events of all kinds and genres and home to the in-house internet radio station Radio Rakete.

Sojus 7 launched the participatory radio station to give people the opportunity to create and experience culture during the coronavirus pandemic.

Our artist in residence Achim Tang is a regular presenter on Radio Rakete and has regularly reported on the Monheim Triennale with the programme “Festivalrakete”.

The café has already served as a meeting place for Monheim Triennale artists and people from Monheim am Rhein at all editions.

Interior of Marienkapelle

Marienkapelle

In 1418 the „Marienkapelle“ was built of wood and replaced in 1514 by a late gothic chapel made of stone. For centuries, it was considered a landmark of the town of Monheim, visible from far away. A lot has happened during this time: Directly on the Rhine, the church not only survived every flood, but also both world wars without damage.

How does a small stone house survive 500 years of history? The „Marienkapelle“ does not reveal its secret, nor the prayers, memories, worries and wishes of the people who have entrusted themselves to it. But it regularly opens up to music for various concert series.
