Stadtstimmung macht Licht - concert at the Altstadtkirche
On Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 1 p.m., the Monheim Triennale invites to a special musical experience entitled Stadtstimmung macht Licht. Following the moving finale in the summer of 2025, international and local soundscapes will once again come together under the direction of Rabih Lahoud.
The new Artist in Residence will realize an encounter between internationally renowned musicians Sofia Jernberg and Mats Gustafsson and choirs from Monheim. Among others, the Monheim Women´s Choir Ungefähr and the Monheim Gospel Singers will be participating. Together with the audience, a musical community of local and international performers will be created in the Altstadtkirche.
Swedish-Ethiopian singer Sofia Jernberg first came to Monheim as a signature artist at the first Triennale and returned this summer as a guest at Triennale II in a project by New York trumpeter Peter Evans. Swedish saxophonist Mats Gustafsson is also no stranger to Monheim. Last summer, he opened the Monheim Triennale II with a highly acclaimed solo concert in the Marienkapelle and was a guest in Oren Ambarchi’s project „Hubris“.
