Fringe program: Tyshawn Sorey & Darius Jones

A special event awaits you in the fringe program of The Festival: the first appearance of multi-instrumentalist and composer Tyshawn Sorey with signature artist Darius Jones.

In 2024, Sorey received the Pulitzer Prize for his work “Adagio (For Wadada Leo Smith)”. He comes to Monheim as part of Peter Evans’ signature project “Being & Becoming + Voices”.

Tyshawn Sorey and Darius Jones are united by their innovative way of combining different currents of black music and its ritual and traditional practices in their artistic work. The musical affinity between these two artists led festival director Reiner Michalke to bring them together for a joint performance.
