Hibo Elmi aka Hibotep with Nihiloxica: “Ruhan”

We present an excerpt from Hibo Elmi’s Signature Project from the Monheim Triennale archive: In 2022, Hibo Elmi aka Hibotep brought the band Nihiloxica to The Festival, which, like her, is closely associated with the Nyege Nyege Festival in Kampala. Together they translated the old, very powerful Bugandan drumming tradition of Uganda onto the contemporary dancefloor and fused it with deep techno.
