Dear culture enthusiasts,

The first Monheim Triennale came to an end this summer with a brilliant festival. Our goal was to establish a festival of contemporary music with artists from all over the world, embedded in a local environment. And we have achieved this goal.

The Monheim Triennale has not only created an outstanding musical experience for music-loving people. It has also succeeded in building a bridge between the festival and the city’s society.

Monheim am Rhein is a music-loving town. Here, every elementary school has its own orchestra and almost two-thirds of all children learn an instrument. The new opportunities that the festival offers to the citizens have been used by them in many ways. The many concerts given by the schoolchildren with the festival’s international musicians were a good example of this.

The triad we experienced with the first Triennale will be continued with the Monheim Triennale II next year. The sound art festival The Sound will have its premiere in June 2023. This will be followed in 2024 by The Prequel with the new generation of invited musicians. Then in July 2025, the big The Festival, which will then take place for the first time in the new cultural center K714, will round off the Monheim Triennale II.

With the Triennale, the world comes to Monheim am Rhein. We are looking forward to more exciting years with outstanding music from all over the world.

Daniel Zimmermann

Mayor of the City of Monheim am Rhein
