Program

The Workshop Ensemble goes back to Peter Evans’ first visit to Monheim in the fall of 2023. Evans expressed the wish to make music together with people from the city based on his own compositions. The special qualities of the specific group were important to him from the outset: this project is not about playing his pieces and trying to match the virtuoso level of his role models. Rather, the focus is on the ensemble’s very own way of interpreting Peter’s music: in a long-term rehearsal process, the cross-generational group of Monheim residents work on a series of his compositions here in the city, developing their very own ensemble sound in the process. The composer and ensemble then meet for three intensive rehearsals in the days leading up to the festival. The result is an extraordinary performance that not least documents the intensive relationship between the Monheim Triennale and the city.
