In October, drummer and visual artist Ludwig Wandinger released his new album ”Is Peace Wild?“ (Light Years, 2024). The almost beatless and consistently sublime album features hypnotic lyrical contributions from the multidisciplinary artist, complemented by contributions from his friend, poet and activist Yves B. Golden, and singer Evita Manji.
Annie Bloch takes an ephemeral feeling and shapes it into a character in her songs. Her sound remains human, raw and direct, striving not for perfection but for utopia. She mixes acoustic drums, guitar and clarinets with electric guitars and colorful synths, immersing you in their harmony and enveloping you in the velvety warmth of her voice. ”Four Trips To The Shop“ (Papercup Records, 2024) describes the inner storm that arises while shopping or how nostalgia overcomes you while ordering a coffee. The ephemeral becomes concrete for the duration of a song.
